Regarding the fact that all of us found Fehmida's writing a bit awkward/different from Manto or Intizar Hussain.The reason I find behind it is that of her being a woman.A woman who understands feminine feelings very much better than a man and can surely describe them in a better way.We can find this difference very much clear in the sentences from her novel where she describes the appearance of the eldest daughter,the scenery and the girls feelings about young handsome boys.The approach she used is very different as compared to Intizar Hussain or Manto because when they described these kinds of things they direct the reader towards the sexuality(the legs, the breasts etc) while Fehmida is more concerned with the beauty of the girl( eyes, fairness,hair).
