Language in Shehr-e-Afsoos

In Shehr-e-Afsoos, while describing the events leading to the second person’s death, there is a similarity in the language used by the author to the one often found in holy texts. Referring to the issue of his identity, the second man says:
( Ae Logo! Main un main se nahi hun)
I find the use of this sentence structure and the language quite similar to the one that is found in Hadith. Often one comes across phrases like ‘..woh hum main se nahi’. Also, the use of ‘Ae Logo..’ is repeatedly found in Quran and other holy texts.

It is hard to premise if the author used such language inspirationally, incidentally or deliberately. It might have been used deliberately like various religious references in Intazar Hussain’s text. If so, then the author is trying to problematize the concept of an identity through ‘them’ by using a religious reference.  It might even be a mockery of people who supported separation on the basis of religion because the second person tries to justify himself by disassociating himself from the ‘other’.  Later, the second person questions his own sense of  belonging because he knows where he does not belong but not where he does. It is an interesting use of language but also keeps the reader guessing.
